Four stages, one clear scope

  1. 01

    Discover

Explain your business problem and discuss your requirements with the AI discovery assistant.

  2. 02

    Specify

Receive a detailed, professionally structured software specification.

  3. 03

    Approve

Review, edit and approve the specification before anything is shared.

  4. 04

    Decide

Review any proposal received against your approved scope, then choose whether to proceed, wait or seek alternatives.

Is custom software worth it for your business?

Answer five quick questions. It takes a minute and helps you see whether custom software, existing software or a different fix is the better next step.

1. Does a problem happen again and again in your day-to-day work?

2. Do you already pay people or hours to work around it, such as spreadsheets, manual re-entry or email chasing?

3. Is there a clear process or set of rules that would need to be built into software?

4. Have you looked at existing off-the-shelf software and found it does not fit your process?

5. Do you know roughly who would use the software and what they need it to do?

Why scopora is different from a development agency

Independent of agencies

We don't build software and aren't owned by a development company.

No forced developer

There's no obligation to use any particular developer.

Scope before proposals

Requirements are gathered before anyone is asked to quote.

Your approval first

Nothing is shared with developers until you approve a version.

Same scope for everyone

Any proposal is prepared against the same approved specification.

Off-the-shelf considered

If existing software makes better commercial sense, we'll say so.

You choose

You pick your preferred developer and contract with them directly.

Who proposes, and what stays private

We don't name developers on this page. You see their experience first, and their details stay private until you decide to go ahead.

Anonymous developer profiles

See each developer's experience, specialities and credentials before you commit. Names and contact details are not shown here.

Checked before any proposal reaches you

Every developer is verified and approved before they can submit a proposal, so proposals come only from suitable, approved developers.

Same approved scope for every proposal

Proposals are based on the specification you have approved. The number received depends on developer availability; if more than one arrives, they can be compared against the same scope.

Less time going back and forth

Instead of explaining your business separately to each developer, you explain it once. The discovery assistant asks questions progressively, and the resulting specification answers the questions developers would otherwise ask you one by one.

Fewer surprises once work starts

Poorly scoped projects are a common cause of disputes and overruns. The specification separates what's confirmed from assumptions and open questions, so gaps are visible before you sign anything — and any proposal is reviewed against the same scope.

Only pay when your project moves forward.

We earn a one-off success fee of 15% of the agreed initial development proposal value (excluding GST where applicable) — only when you accept a proposal and proceed with your selected independent developer. No upfront discovery fee for the standard service, no monthly subscription and no commission on future maintenance, hosting, support or unrelated work.

What the requirements package covers

We document your requirements and project scope in a reviewable specification that you approve before any developer sees it. The package covers discovery questions, a check on whether custom software is worth it, and the written specification.

The fine print, plainly

  • The fee is paid by you, the client. It is separate from and additional to the developer's quoted price — it is never added to their quote or paid by the developer — and it is disclosed before you commit.
  • No success fee is triggered unless you both accept a proposal and proceed with that developer. There is no obligation to accept any proposal.
  • How cancellation, material changes or a project that never begins affect the fee will be set out in the commercial agreement disclosed to you before you commit.
  • GST treatment of scopora's fee is subject to confirmation.
  • scopora is an independent requirements and sourcing consultancy. We don't employ or control developers, build software, manage implementation, or guarantee delivery, quality, completion or outcomes.
  • You contract directly with your chosen developer, who is responsible for delivery, quality, timelines, warranties, security and support under your development agreement. Our role is the agreed discovery, documentation, sourcing and comparison.
  • Any proposal is reviewed on suitability, experience, support and other non-price criteria — not on which is cheapest or on our fee. Off-the-shelf software remains an option.
